Hospice organization settles healthcare fraud claims

The Alabama-based hospice organization, SouthernCare Inc., agreed to pay $24.7 million to settle allegations the company submitted false claims to the government for treatment of patients who did not qualify for hospice care, according to a Department of Justice press release.
