Testing/inspection documentation
Q: When it comes to documentation requirements for testing and inspection of features of life safety, do we need to show the individual pass/fail of equipment or an overall summary?
A: To be sure, documentation of the activity should include the results of the activity. Most documentation that I see that meets this requirement has individual pass/fail decisions included in the inventory of the items tested/inspected. However, I have seen some reports that have two lists: one identifying all of the devices that passed, and another identifying those devices that failed their test/inspection. It is my belief that either method meets the intent of NFPA and the accreditation organization’s standards. However, you should confirm with your accreditation organization to determine what they will accept.
