Suspect dies in officer shooting at Virginia hospital

A man allegedly wielding a sharp object died after being shot by a deputy on the campus of a Virginia hospital on August 15, according to a report from Campus Safety magazine.
According to the report, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. as the man threatened a deputy officer on the campus of Inova Fairfax Hospital in the city of Falls Church.
Police were first called about a suspicious man with a weapon near the hospital's parking garage around 10 p.m., the report said. A responding deputy shot the man multiple times after the suspect threatened the officer. The man died inside the hospital shortly after the shooting.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been with the department for 18 years, Campus Safety reported.
