Man in standoff at Texas hospital surrenders

A standoff at a hospital in Tomball, Texas ended peacefully January 11 when a distraught man who had entered his son’s room surrendered to police, according to a report in USA Today.
According to the report, the man had been distraught over his adult son’s condition at Tomball Regional Medical Center at around 7 p.m. and barricaded himself in the room in the hospital’s critical care unit.
Authorities had originally thought the man was believed to be holding at least two hostages, the report said, but after he surrendered,it was determined the man was unarmed. The hospital briefly went into lockdown, the report said.
