CDC reports new H3N2 outbreak

OSHA Healthcare Connection, August 7, 2012

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is reporting a new strain of swine flu (H3N2) has developed, with 16 people recently becoming sickened by the illness. All appeared to have contracted the illness following interactions with pigs at county fairs.

This new flu has a gene from the 2009 version, which officials fear could make the illness more contagious. Twelve cases of H3N2 were reported in 2011.
