Joint Commission seeks to improve relationship with safety professionals

“Think of us as a team,” said George Mills, FASHE, CHFM, CEM, senior engineer at The Joint Commission, who spoke at the American Society for Healthcare Engineering’s (ASHE) annual conference in Tampa, FL, in July. Mills told conference attendees that the accreditor has a new mantra: trust, report, improve. The Joint Commission seeks a partnership approach with accredited hospitals, with each side trusting the other, and this attitude is being conveyed to surveyors.
