A bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax nonetheless forced the evacuation of the emergency room at an Arkansas medical center on Monday.

A man walked into NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR, carrying a backpack that he allegedly said contained a bomb, a hospital spokesperson told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The man later allegedly said his claim was a hoax, but officials remained cautious by evacuating patients in the emergency room to other locations in the hospital. A state police bomb squad determined that the backpack didn’t have a bomb in it, the Democrat-Gazette reported.

This incident could make for an interesting emergency plan test at your hospital, with ample opportunities to escalate the scenario.
