Editor’s note: The following is an edited excerpt from Residency Program Alert’s (RPA) coverage of the 2019 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey, which can be accessed in the RPA archive here. Not an RPA member? Click here for more information about becoming an RPA subscriber.
Forty-four percent respondents to the latest HCPro Residency Coordinator Salary Survey reported working 41–45 hours per week, up 3% from the 2017 survey. Meanwhile, 25% reported working 36–40 hours per week. Approximately 12% reported working more than 50 hours per week (see Figure 2).
Additionally, most respondents indicated that they performed tasks outside of their normal working hours, such as responding to emails and text messages (see Figure 3).
Three-fourths of coordinators responding to this year’s survey indicated they work as the sole coordinator in their program/fellowship. This is a 12% increase from the 2017 survey, with fewer respondents reporting working in teams of two or three.
For a breakdown of salaries by number of coordinators in a respondent’s program, see Figure 4.
