When changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that would have extended overtime pay to 4.2 million U.S. workers were set to go into effect late last year, many employers nationwide made changes to their employees’ statuses to align with the new requirements. With the long hours they are often required to work, residency program coordinators were not immune to these changes and some found their roles reclassified.
