Jackson Health System in Miami is firing a fourth-year neurology resident who was caught on video having an altercation with an Uber driver. In January, a video of Anjali Ramkissoon, MD, was posted online showing her striking and screaming profanities at the driver, who was attempting to pick up another customer.
Following the release of the video, which has hundreds of thousands views, Ramkissoon was placed on administrative leave and removed from all clinical duties. This month Jackson Health announced it was moving forward with terminating Ramkissoon. She can appeal the decision.
The Uber driver did not press charges and Ramkissoon has publically apologized for her behavior, citing stress from her father’s hospitalization and breaking up with her long-term boyfriend.
