The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regent recently unanimously approved a $900,000 grant to Athens Regional Health System for the creation 102 new residences.
The General Assembly appropriated the funds to help the University System of Georgia’s initiative to establish 400 additional residency slots around the state in an effort to lure more physicians to stay and practice there. With this latest grant, the state has contributed a total of $2.1 million.
