The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) released the results of the 2015 Match, which had a record number of applicants and offered positions. More than 41,000 registered applicants vied for about 30,000 positions.
According to the NRMP, nearly 29,000 applicants matched into programs this year. Of those, 16,932 were allopathic seniors who matched to first-year positions for an overall match rate of 93.9%, and 2,339 were osteopathic medical school students and graduates matched to first-year positions for an overall match rate of 79.3%.
