The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently released its Report on Residents 2015, which features a collection of data on residency applicants, residents, and resident outcomes.
Some of the report’s findings include:
- Nearly 53% of physicians who completed their residency training from 2004 to 2013 practice in the state where they received their training
- About 16% of physicians who completed their residencies from 2004 to 2013 hold a full-time faculty position at a medical school
- In 2013, only about 22% of physicians who completed training from 2004 to 2012 were practicing in underserved areas
