Proposed legislation would require the Secretary of State to accelerate the review process for J-1 temporary non-immigrant visa applicants looking to come to the U.S. to participate in graduate medical education programs.

Introduced by Rep. Grace Meng of New York, the Grant Residency for Additional Doctors Act of 2014 aims to speed up the process in which international physicians secure J-1 visas by requiring the Secretary of State to designate an officer with the sole responsibility of reviewing applications during the months of March to June.
