Even as the responsibilities of residency and program coordinators have evolved, the wording of the Common Program Requirements has not been updated to reflect it. To remedy this, several coordinators have formed the Coordinator Description Task Force (CDTF).
The CDTF aims to review the current ACGME language regarding the coordinator’s role and develop a more appropriate description. With that updated language, it hopes to gain support from coordinators nationwide and ultimately present it to the ACGME for consideration.
The CDTF is seeking representatives from all specialties to contribute to the project. It still needs representatives in the following specialties:
· Allergy/immunology
· Anesthesiology
· Colon and rectal surgery
· Dermatology
· Medical genetics
· Neurological surgery
· Nuclear medicine
· Ophthalmology
· Physical medicine and rehabilitation
· Preventative medicine
· Thoracic surgery
· Transitional year
· Urology
If you’re interested in joining the CDTF, please contact Crys Draconi, C-TAGME, at cdraconi@tuftsmedicalcenter.org or by directly joining the group on LinkedIn by clicking here.
