The ACGME Institutional Requirements states that “an internal review committee(s) for each program must include at last one faculty member and at least one resident from within the Sponsoring Institution but not from within GME programs being reviewed. Additional internal or external reviewers may be included on the internal review committee as determined by the GMEC. Administration from outside the program may also be included.”

The DIO is responsible for appointing the review committee; however, other GME administrators may be involved as well. Consider including the following on your committee:

  • A chairperson who is also a member of the GMEC
  • One other GMEC member
  • An administrator
  • At least one resident
  • Other appointees as deemed necessary
