Program directors are in high demand for everyone’s attention. Program coordinators should become a reliable source of information to reduce the number of times residents interrupt program directors, says Sheri Clarke, MPA, C-TAGME, associate director of medical education at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan.

As the program coordinator, become the residents’ go-to resource on:

  • Evaluations
  • Scheduling
  • Attendance requirements
  • Educational requirements

Becoming the gatekeeper will free up program directors to concentrate on other issues and prevent unscheduled interruptions, says Clarke.
