News and briefs: CMS selects first wave of 'innovation advisors'

CMS selected 73 medical professionals to the Innovation Advisors Program. These individuals are charged with studying solutions and making suggestions on the Medicare, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance Program delivery systems.

According to a press release from CMS.gov, the program fielded applications from 920 individuals. Selection criterion includes:

·         Individual’s career achievements

·         Pre-existing skillset

·         Quality of their proposed innovation project

CMS’s website states the program plans to open up the next round of applicants this spring. The 73 recently selected individuals begin their six-month orientation and research period this month.
