The three-month mark is a great time to reconfirm when the program director needs to submit the PIF to the DIO and GME office. When the DIO receives the PIF, he or she should:
- Review the PIF
- Make suggestions, additions, and corrections
- Perform a final read
- Sign the document
This is also a good time to get Part 1 of the PIF off your plate. The ACGME’s online Accreditation Data System (ADS) generates Part 1 of the PIF so recheck and reconfirm the data in ADS. Additionally, gather correspondence you exchanged with the ACGME—sent or received—over the previous 180 days. Have copies available for the site visitor.
This week’s tip is from Program Information Form Made Simple, by Jeri L. Whitten, C-TAGME.
