Pioneer ACO results encouraging

Physician Practice Insider, December 29, 2015

According to a CMS report of 2014 results for the Pioneer ACO Program and the Medicare Shared Savings Program, participants generated more than $411 million in savings. The results are encouraging for a program that saw one third of its original participants leave the ACO for a variety of reasons.

“These results show that accountable care organizations as a group are on the path towards transforming how care is provided,” says CMS Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt. “Many of these ACOs are demonstrating that they can deliver a higher level of coordinated care that leads to healthier people and smarter spending.”
