CMS releases new meaningful use FAQs for public health reporting and PDMP
Physician Practice Insider, December 1, 2015
CMS updated their FAQs with two new questions for EHR Meaningful Use. The new FAQs explain meaningful use and public health reporting issues. The first explains how Stage 1 participants should submit public health reports, and the second addresses the use of prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMP) for specialized registries. The new FAQs are:
- FAQ# 12985: For 2015, how should a provider report on the public health reporting objective if they had not planned to attest to certain public health measures? Is there an alternate exclusion available to accommodate the changes to how the measures are counted?
- FAQ# 13413: Does integration of the PDMP (Prescription Drug Monitoring Program) into an EHR count as a specialized registry?
More FAQs on meaningful use and other CMS initiatives and policies can be read on the CMS website..
