SDW news brief: ANA establishes disaster relief fund for Japan

Staff Development Weekly: Insight on Evidence-Based Practice in Education, March 18, 2011

The American Nurses Association (ANA) has established a special fund within its American Nurses Foundation philanthropic and charitable arm to collect donations to assist nurses in Japan. The Japan Disaster Relief Fund will be donated to the Japanese Nursing Association to aid its efforts to support Japanese nurses.

In addition, the ANA is monitoring the situation closely to determine what further assistance American nurses can provide. The organization states that at this point the best help it can provide is money.

For more information, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has created a webpage with resources and information related to the disasters.
