Inside scoop from our experts: Champions and ambassadors
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 22, 2010
This week’s question about champions and ambassadorscomes from a discussion on JourneyTalk.
Q: Can you provide information on how you develop ANCC Magnet Recognition Program ® (MRP) champions and MRP ambassadors and are they the same. We are getting ready to rotate our members and I was thinking of using these members as MRP champions. Do you have separate meetings for them or are they combined?
A: We initially had more groups and committees than we do as we grow and change. Now we have fewer groups. For example, MRP champions used to be a separate group, but in reality our council chairs (unit and organization wide) are all champions, so a second group is superfluous except for planning events like an MRP fair or fundraising activities. I think when you begin questioning whether to combine or separate, probably combine. We found this time a good opportunity to question purposes and functions, then decide what groups are needed.
Editor's note: On JourneyTalk you can network with your peers, discuss the new manual, share your helpful tips, and get advice on how to meet the program's expectations.
