Inside best practice: CNO involvement
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 8, 2010
Because ANCC Magnet Recognition Program ® (MRP) designation is one of the St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis’ strategic initiatives, the board of directors has been behind the project since the start. The CNO takes on the role of keeping the board up to speed—which is key because, as Latty points out, you need to have an extremely open line of communication between you, the CNO, and the board through the whole process.
“As you’re writing your document, you’ll find you get off on little tangents,” says Sallie Latty, RN, BSN, MA, an MRP coordinator with the organization. “Constantly go back to the SOEs. TL-4 is about the processes. You must show the evidence to support those processes. You have to keep going back to make sure you’re answering the question fully.”
