Inside scoop from our experts: Clinical ladders
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 4, 2010
This week’s question about clinical ladders comes from a discussion on JourneyTalk. Rajanee Singh RN, BC,BSN,MA, director of professional practice at Jupiter Medical Center provides some feedback.
Q: Would anybody be willing to share your criteria for who is eligible to participate on your clinical ladder? Just staff RNs? Unit educators? Care coordinators? Bedside only?
A: We started by first running a report of all the different classification of nurses and job codes. Then we eliminated those that did not perform 50% or more direct patient care. Our smaller department managers functions in a dual role and has patient assignments, so they were included.
