Advancing the practice of staff development must coincide with justifying its existence. Many of our healthcare professional colleagues still do not grasp what it is we do, nor do they recognize the positive effect we have on patient outcomes and organizational effectiveness. Part of our own continuing education needs is to learn how to promote and expand the unique body of knowledge that is staff development. One way of doing this is to attend education events that focus on the specialty of staff development.
