In the news: Fewer LPNs in hospitals?
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 24, 2010
According to some studies, licensed vocational or practical nurses (LVNs and LPNs) may find their careers headed outside the walls of hospitals, Nursezone reports. Many of these professionals may instead find their prospects better in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
According to the report, LVNs are becoming rarer in ANCC Magnet Recognition Program (MRP) ® applicants and designee hospitals. It has been reported that registered nurses and bachelor’s-degree holding nurses are more appealing as hires for MRP hospitals due to their higher level of training.
