Inside the program: Putting a committee structure in place
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, December 8, 2009
Based on the literature and practice environments focused on shared governance and a decentralized management model, the following committee structure can be used as a model for committees that should be in place and functioning for at least a year prior to applying for ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designation:
- Nursing practice council
- Nursing quality council
- Nursing education council
- Nursing research council
- Nursing recruitment and retention council
- Nursing leadership council
In addition to participating in nursing committees, staff nurses should be active members of interdisciplinary hospital committees.
