News brief: NC facility’s promotes patient care through nursing excellence
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 22, 2009
Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC, has maintained its designation as an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) facility for eight years. Eddie Beard, RN, MSN, CNAA, vice president of patient services, calls the designation the highlight of his career, which he has spent focusing in promoting professionalism among nurses.
"Helping nurses become more professional is one of the joys of my career," Beard told the Hickory Daily Record. "Better nurses mean better patient care."
Catawba, like all MRP facilities, puts great value into keeping practices current. The Research & EBP Council—comprised of nurses from varying educational and professional backgrounds—continues to expand the new initiatives at the facility.
