In the know: Cover these topics in your cover letter

Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, June 15, 2009

As the job market continues to get more and more competitive because of the struggling economy, the importance of a well-written cover letter cannot be understated. Employers almost always have more applicants than they have time to meet with, so only those individuals who stand out will be called in for an interview.

Make sure you create a personalized cover letter when applying for a job. Be sure to include:

  • Which job you are applying for and how you heard about it
  • Why are you are interested in the job
  • Why you feel you are a good fit for the position
  • A brief summary of your experience or training
  • How you can be contacted
  • A thank you
