News brief: Dallas medical center opens high-tech OR
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 9, 2009
Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas—an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® recipient in 2004—recently opened advanced neurosurgery operating room (OR) suites that will allow surgeons to see real-time, intra-operative pictures of patients' brains while conducting surgery.
The new OR suites feature technology from BrainSUITE(r) iMRI and GE Healthcare MR Surgical Suite, which will allow surgeons to use high-definition magnetic resonance scanners and cutting-edge navigation systems to improve accuracy during surgery. Physicians will be able to view detailed pictures of a tumor's location, which will help verify removal.
