Cindy Rentsch, RN, MSN, CEN, CCRN, clinical director of emergency services, and colleague Sheri Hey, RN, CCRN, CEN, clinical leader in the ED, began pursuing a strategic goal to have 50% of nurses certified in one year. They thought money would be exactly the motivation staff members needed, but soon found it wasn't. It was time for a new strategy. "We created a campaign that would get staff nurses involved at all levels and buy into getting certified," says Hey.
