Inside the news: New York hospital checks off improving patient care

Improving patient safety and quality care is on the top of many healthcare organizations’ to-do lists. St. Peter’s Hospital of Albany, NY, is on its way to checking it off.

St. Peter’s Hospital—a 2005 ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation recipient—has implemented initiatives that improve patient safety, quality care, and clinical outcomes. These initiatives include the CareFocus™ solution from Thomson Reuters. CareFocus provides clinicians the ability to access patient data (e.g., lab test, diagnosis, demographics, etc.) from a BlackBerry, Palm, or Windows Mobile. This will enable St. Peter’s clinicians to create files that identify possible high-risk patients at St. Peter’s before their conditions become worse.
