The U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) voted to approve S. 192- which reauthorizes the Older Americans Act. This Act provides social and nutrition services to older adults.
· Direct the Administration on Aging to include, as appropriate, training for states, area agencies on aging, and service providers on elder abuse prevention and screening.
· Encourage the efforts to modernize multipurpose senior centers and promote inter-generational models.
· Promote the delivery of evidence-based programs.
· Direct the HHS assistant secretary to provide information and technical assistance to states on providing person-centered transportation services, across geographical boundaries.
· Streamline federal level administration of programs, and improve coordination between programs at the federal, state, and local levels
