Manual medical reviews on therapy thresholds require more diligence from SNFs

In August CMS clarified its plans to implement a manual medical review process for therapy cap exceptions that exceed $3,700 in physical and speech therapy and $3,700 in occupational therapy, which will specifically affect Medicare Part B SNFs. As of October 1, SNFs are required to submit exceptions for residents who need to continue therapy past those thresholds.
