Long-Term Care

National Nursing Assistants Week

LTC Nursing Assistant Trainer, June 16, 2011

The National Network of Career Nursing Assistants announced the theme for the 34th annual National Nursing Assistants Week: New Roles, New Goals. Held June 16-23, the focus is on the numerous changes in long-term care and how CNAs are being asked to wear a number of new hats in order to meet the care needs of their patients. A number of topics are discussed on the National Network of Career Nursing Assistants’ website, including soft competencies for person-centered care, frontline for the MDS, avoiding rehospitalization, and safe patient handling.

The first day of National Nursing Assistants Week is designated as National Career Nursing Assistants’ Day to recognize nursing assistants with longevity of service. These individuals have developed a wide repertoire of skills for working with and supporting their peers through routine as well as difficult situations.
