A. This is a major issue because the outcome of the refusal can be catastrophic for both the resident and the facility. Giving up on a resident is never a wise decision. Although a resident may refuse treatment today, that resident has the right to change his or her mind tomorrow or at any time. Avoid closing the door to a potential change of heart.
