Paula Long Named Regulatory Specialist for Beacon Health

Press Releases, September 30, 2010

Beacon Health, a division of HCPro, Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Long, RN, CHCE, to the position of Homecare and Hospice Regulatory Specialist.

Long replaces Beacon Health founder Diane Omdahl, RN, MS, who is retiring effective October 1. Long will serve as Beacon Health's regulatory expert for all homecare and hospice educational offerings. She will present the national Mastering Medicare seminar series scheduled in five U.S. cities throughout 2011, speak on Beacon Health's monthly audio conferences, and serve as editor-in-chief of the highly acclaimed newsletters Homecare Direction, Homecare Q&A, and Homecare Administrator. Long will also provide virtual consulting services through the Beacon Institute, a membership program for homecare and hospice providers.

"This position is an honor to accept," said Long, a resident of Elnora, IN. "I look forward to sharing my valuable experience and education in home health and hospice, and to continue to nurture my regulatory expertise in order to benefit those whom I educate and mentor."

Prior to joining Beacon Health, Long was director of both Sullivan County Community Hospital Home Health and Hospice of Sullivan County. She also served as an independent consultant for Indiana-based Compliance Consultants, where she provided regulatory, clinical, and operational guidance to homecare agencies throughout the state. Long has more than 15 years' experience in the home health and hospice fields and a thorough understanding of their relationship to the long-term care and hospital settings.

Long has extensive ties to professional organizations in homecare. She serves on the advisory board of the Area 7 Agency on Aging and the regulatory committee of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice. She is the compliance officer and former president of the Indiana Association for Home and Hospice Care and an active member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Long will make her first public appearance as Beacon Health's Homecare and Hospice Regulatory Specialist at the upcoming National Association for Home Care and Hospice conference, October 3–5, in Grapevine, TX. She will also conduct a free audio conference on October 13, entitled "The State of Homecare: An Expert Analysis of Payment and Compliance Trends." Registration is available at
