ONC published a notice of corrections and clarification to the 2015 Edition Final Rule in the Federal Register. The corrections are to errors and ambiguity in cross-references and missing citations. The notice clarifies the final rule’s definition of terms such as common clinical data set, and the terms and expectations of Approach 2 for meeting privacy and security certification criterion. The notice also clarifies the disclosure requirements for certification, affirming that they should be interpreted as consistent with the 2014 disclosure requirements.
These corrections and clarifications are intended to resolve stakeholders’ questions and confusion and assist them in complying with the final rule.
The final rule is effective January 14, 2016.
