ICD-10-CM allows coders to report additional detail for many conditions of the male reproductive system with a single code. For example, when reporting male erectile dysfunction (category N52), coders will find subcategories that include the origin:
- N52.0-, vasculogenic erectile dysfunction
- N52.1, erectile dysfunction due to diseases classified elsewhere (code first underlying disease)
- N52.2, drug-induced erectile dysfunction
- N52.3-, post-surgical erectile dysfunction
- N52.8, other male erectile dysfunction
- N52.9, male erectile dysfunction, unspecified
This tip is adapted from “ICD-10-CM anatomy refresher: Reproductive system" in the February issue of Briefings on APCs.
