Join ACDIS on Tuesday, January 27, for free CDI webcast “Defining the Role of CDI through Clinical Validation,” with speakers Cheryl Ericson, MS, RN, CCDS, CDIP, and Adelaide M. La Rosa, RN, BSN, CCDS.
Clinical validation—reviewing a claim to determine if the codes reported depict an accurate clinical representation of the patient—is altering the way CDI specialists do their jobs. It's no longer enough to query for a diagnosis and report the corresponding code—the diagnosis must be clinically supported through clinical indicators, else it may be overturned by an auditing agency.
Join this free 60-minute program to better understand the significance of clinical validation on denials management. Our speakers will provide both regulatory guidance and day-to-day practical examples of processes to ensure diagnoses are clinically supported in the medical record. They'll offer sample denial letters and processes for ensuring that CDI is involved in the revenue cycle process, providing assistance in the submission of clinically accurate claims. Lastly, they'll discuss working with your physicians to ensure a rigorous process for clinical validation, and share strategies for elevating problematic claims that appear to be lacking clinical support.
