CMS recently offered administrative agreements to acute care and critical access hospitals willing to withdraw pending appeals, according to its Inpatient Hospital Reviews website.
Hospitals that opt to withdraw their pending appeals will receive a timely partial payment that is equal to 68% of the net allowable amount. CMS encourages hospitals with pending inpatient status claims in appeals or within the timeframe to request an appeal to participate in this initiative.
CMS will accept requests to withdraw pending appeals through October 31. To participate, hospitals must:
- Print, sign, and scan to PDF an administrative agreement
- Follow the Hospital Participant Settlement Instructions to complete the Eligible Claim Spreadsheet
- Email MedicareAppealsSettlement@cms.hhs.gov a PDF of the signed Administrative Agreement and an Excel file of the Eligible Claim Spreadsheet
