September 14 - 20 is CDI Week. It’s our fourth annual celebration of the profession and its accomplishments. This year’s theme is "CDI and Quality: Transforming Healthcare.”
-
Share your unique skills and expertise with others in their facilities
-
Increase awareness of the CDI profession
-
Positively affect the personal and organizational performance of CDI specialists
-
Provide broader education on the importance of the quality connection of documentation of care
It also gives you a chance to publically acknowledge your partners in CDI excellence... the physicians and coding staff who help you do your jobs every day.
In many facilities this is a very big deal. Teams have luncheons, hold contests and games, and decorate their departments... all while continuing to do important daily CDI efforts.
ACDIS has tools and resources on the ACDIS web site http://www.hcpro.com/acdis/cdi_week.cfm to help you prepare for the event. In fact, the 2014 CDI Week Poster was just posted there (you can download it by clicking this link). Use the poster, along with CDI Week logo images in your in-house newsletters, flyers, and other communications to promote your CDI Week activities. You can print out and hang in your departments, in elevators, in the doctor's lounges... anywhere it will be noticed.
We also have an electronic toolkit and daily suggested activities available on the website. And you can visit the CDI Journal and ACDIS Blog to see what others have done to celebrate in the past.
There are also tee shirts, mugs, water bottles, canvas totes, and ACDIS pens available to purchase to provide to staff and colleagues as giveaways (http://hcmarketplace.com/subject/clinical-documentation-improvement).
ACDIS will distribute the CDI Week Industry Survey and a series of industry Q&As to its membership throughout the week. The general public is also invited to participate in a free CDI Week webinar with CDI Education Director Cheryl Ericson, registration instructions will be available soon.
It is an exciting time for ACDIS and for our CDI family. We hope you’ll participate, have fun, and share what you’re doing to celebrate with us. Email Associate Director Melissa Varnavas with the details and send us your CDI Week photos mvarnavas@acdis.org.
