At ACDIS we’re seeing more and more departments expand their medical record reviews to focus on quality measures such as patient safety indicators, hospital acquired conditions, and severity of illness and risk of mortality, among other concerns. The more than 1,200 who trekked out to our seventh annual national conference in Las Vegas had the opportunity to attend a dedicated track on “CDI and Quality,” and the sessions were frequently filled past room capacity.
Of course, quality is the new mantra in healthcare, as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) continues to seek ways to improve care and reduce costs. So it seems only fitting to announce that this year’s CDI Week which takes place September 15-19 will focus on “CDI and Quality.”
Although the pollen’s hardly fallen as we turn our sights to summer holidays, backyard barbecues, and July 4th festivities, it’s not too soon to start thinking about your September CDI celebrations. As always we will have lots of tools for you to use as we get closer to the date.
In the meantime, we encourage you to review the materials from previous years’ celebrations and contact us (bmurphy@cdiassociation.com) if you have any suggestions or materials you think may be useful as we plan for this year’s activities.
