CMS issues revision of calendar year (CY) 2014 Annual Update for clinical laboratory fee schedule and laboratory services subject to reasonable charge payment
On March 28, CMS issued a transmittal that provides instructions for the revised CY 2014 clinical laboratory fee schedule. This recurring update notification applies to Chapter 16, Section 20 of the Medicare Claims Processing Manual.
Effective date: January 1, 2014
Implementation date: June 30, 2014

CORE 360 Uniform Use of Claim Adjustment Reason Codes (CARC) and Remittance Advice Remark Codes (RARC) Rule update
On March 28, CMS issued a change request that instructs the contractors and Shared System Maintainers to update the CORE 360 Uniform Use of CARC and RARC Rule per attachment. The attachment shows the CORE Code Combination Updates based on Code Updates published on February 1, 2014.
Effective date: July 1, 2014 (unless otherwise specified, the effective date is the date of service)
Implementation date: July 7, 2014
Participation rises in Medicare Physician Quality Reporting System and Electronic Prescribing Incentive Program
On April 3, CMS issued a press release regarding the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System and Electronic Prescribing Experience Report, showing a significant increase in participation in two key programs that allow eligible professionals to earn incentive payments through voluntary participation.
