More than a dozen healthcare organizations—from AHIMA to the AHA and from 3M to Siemens—added their names to a letter of support for CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner, last week.
The letter comes following Tavenner’s announcement that “there will be no change in the deadline for ICD-10,” at the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference in February.
Although the entities which signed the letter may have originally disagreed about the timing of the implementation, they “are now in agreement that any further delay or deviation would be disruptive and costly for health care delivery innovation, payment reform, public health, and health care spending."
