Many CDI specialists struggle with the complications and comorbities (CC) and major CC (MCC) lists due to their length, complexity, and specific documentation requirements, especially those who are new to the profession. To create a clinically succinct and appropriate physician query, you must understand how the clinical indicators in the health record translate to MS-DRGs and how CC and MCC affect that element of coding.
Join William E. Haik, MD, at 1 p.m. Eastern, Wednesday, November 13, for the live 90-minute audio conference, CC/MCC List: Clinical Indicators and Query Opportunities. Dr. Haik explains the guidelines for reporting additional diagnoses; explores the significance of the 2014 CC/MCC lists, including definitions for malnutrition and acute kidney injury (AKI); and helps you incorporate significant documentation elements to reflect the patient’s condition.
You will learn to recognize complex diagnoses such as acute tubular necrosis (ATN) with renal failure and be able to identify clinical indicators and query opportunities related to MS-DRGs by CC/MCC. You will also gain a better understanding of how some codes in ICD-10 serve as their own CC/MCC.
