Update to Chapter 15 of the Program Integrity Manual (PIM)

On July 5, CMS issued a transmittal to incorporate provider enrollment policy and operational clarifications into Chapter 15 of the Program Integrity Manual, and to restore certain sections to chapter 15 that were previously and inadvertently deleted.

Effective date: October 8, 2013

Implementation date: October 8, 2013

Home Health Prospective Payment System rate update for CY 2014, Home Health quality reporting requirements, and cost allocation of Home Health survey expenses proposed rule

On July 3, CMS posted a proposed rule to the Federal Register that would update the Home Health Prospective Payment System (HHPPS) rates, including the national, standardized 60-day episode payment rates, the national per-visit rates, the low-utilization payment adjustment (LUPA) add-on, the non-routine medical supplies conversion factor, and outlier payment under the Medicare prospective payment system for home health agencies.

End-Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System, Quality Incentive Program, and Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies proposed rule

On July 8, CMS posted a proposed rule to the Federal Register to update and make revisions to the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) prospective payment system (PPS) for CY2014, to set forth requirements for the ESRD quality incentive program, and to clarify the grandfathering provision related to the 3-year minimum lifetime requirement for Durable Medical Equipment.
