The correct answer is C. Jeannette Pickering Rankin (June 11, 1880–May 18, 1973) was the first woman in the United States Congress. She was elected in Montana to Montana's at-large seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1916. Rankin was elected to Congress again in 1940.
