“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. Next year’s words await another voice. To make an end is to make a beginning.” ~T.S. Eliot.

Another year has come and gone. As individuals and as a nation we have all had our share of difficulties and triumphs in 2012. For ACDIS, 2012 marked our 5th anniversary and our 5th annual national conference. In 2012, we celebrated the profession’s 2nd annual recognition event, CDI Week. We congratulated the 1,000th CDI professional to earn the Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification and were struck to realize that ACDIS has grown to more than 3,700 members.

As is the case at the turning of the tides of time, at the New Year we look back at our accomplishments and look forward to the challenges and growth we know are yet to come. We look forward to our 6th annual conference in Nashville, its expanded 2 ½ day format and its ICD-10 and physician advisor preconference events.

We look forward to a new local chapter leadership toolkit and enhanced Forms & Tools Library. We look forward to expanded offerings for our valued exhibitors and association sponsors. We look forward to enhanced networking opportunities for our members. And we also look forward to electing four new advisory board members to serve our membership.

All this and more, we know, will be waiting for us in 2013. And we can’t wait. Happy New Year, and our heartfelt wishes for goodness and happiness to you, your CDI coworkers, and your families.
